Reverse Holiday

In Minnesota it’s hard to say which is my favorite November holiday: Thanksgiving or Give to the Max Day (GTMD.) Every year thousands of Minnesotans open their computers to donate millions of dollars to thousands of non-profits. Every year, GTMD outdoes itself, raising more than the year before and offering all kinds of prizes throughout the day. As GiveMN, the organization leading GTMD points out: “Through the first decade (2009-2019) of Give to the Max Day, donors have given nearly $200 million to more than 10,000 nonprofits and schools in just eleven giving days!”

In past years I’ve had the joy of helping the Give MN team out at events or providing customer assistance on the phones. I tend to get caught up in the day and like a reverse online shopping binge, I end up donating more money than I planned to nonprofits doing critical and life changing work!

Turns out, MN isn’t the only place with a great online giving day. Here in San Antonio, the Big Give will be taking place on March 26th. This will be its 7th year. Since 2014, more than 200,000 donors have given over $25 million dollars to South Texas nonprofits. My goal is to brush up on some of these nonprofits and get into the same spirit as I do each November in MN!
